Why buying here runs through factories, not a market

Shunde, a district of the nearby city of Foshan, is widely described as one of China’s most concentrated home appliance manufacturing hubs — home to major appliance brands’ headquarters and a dense cluster of component and finished-goods factories, particularly around the town of Beijiao.

That’s a manufacturing base, not a market you can walk into and browse. Visiting factories in Shunde means arranged appointments and, typically, an existing relationship or an introduction — closer to a sourcing trip in its own right than to a day out at a wholesale market. For a buyer who hasn’t already lined up factory visits, it isn’t a realistic alternative to a single day’s trip.

A smaller amount of retail-facing wholesale for appliances and electronics does exist within Guangzhou itself, but it’s scattered, thinly documented, and not comparable in scale to the specialised markets this guide covers for other categories.

For home appliances specifically, the Canton Fair’s own manufacturer booths are, for most buyers, the more practical way to see multiple suppliers side by side without pre-arranged factory access.
