What do the complex's zones actually mean for which entrance you use?
How the three zones map to two different metro stations, and why this is a different question from where to book a hotel.
The Canton Fair complex is organised into zones, and which one you need determines which of two different metro stations actually serves you — a distinct question from choosing a hotel, and one worth understanding on its own.
The zone-to-station mapping
Zone A is served by Xingangdong (Xingang East) station, while Zones B and C are served by Pazhou station itself. These aren’t neighbouring exits of the same station — they’re genuinely different stations, which matters if your day covers halls split across zones.
Why this trips up first-time visitors
The complex reads as one continuous venue on a map, and the zone letters don’t obviously map to two separate train stations unless you’ve checked in advance. Arriving at the wrong station for your target zone means either a lengthy walk through or around the complex, or backtracking to the correct station — a real cost on a day you’re trying to cover specific booths.
Check this before each day at the fair, not once for the whole trip
Which zone you need can change day to day depending on your category and which exhibition sections you’re visiting that phase — planning a focused route means checking your hall assignment each morning, not assuming the same station works for the whole visit.
How this connects to where you stay
A hotel connecting more directly to one of the two stations gives you a shorter trip to halls in that specific zone — covered from the accommodation side on the main hotel-selection page — though this is a secondary consideration next to simply knowing which zone you need each day.
