How does Canton Fair buyer registration actually work?

Which physical registration points skip the online review queue entirely, and what changes about the document requirements at each.

Registration runs through the organiser’s own online system, with an in-person alternative at several points if you’d rather not wait on an online review. Either route issues the same Buyer Badge, and there’s no separate “ticket” to buy on top of it.

Registering online

The organiser’s platform — referred to as BEST, the Buyer E-Service Tool, or the Buyer Service System depending on which official page you land on — handles the application. You can register directly on the platform ahead of a session; the organiser has also described a year-round pre-registration option for new overseas buyers, letting you get the account set up without waiting for a specific session’s window to open.

During badge registration, the system offers an option to generate an invitation letter in the same step — useful if you’ll need one for a visa application, covered in full on the invitation-letter page rather than here, since the badge and the letter serve different purposes even though one form can request both.

How long it takes: the organiser’s own pages don’t fully agree on the exact review window, which is itself the useful signal — apply early, not the week before you need your badge, rather than planning around any specific number of days.

Registering in person

If you’d rather not wait on an online review, badges are also issued directly at several physical points:

  • Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport
  • Guangzhou South railway station
  • Pazhou Ferry Terminal
  • a number of designated Guangzhou hotels
  • the fair complex itself
  • the Canton Fair’s Hong Kong representative office, which operates year-round rather than only around a session

Registering in person skips the online review queue, which is generally the faster option if you’re already travelling and haven’t applied ahead — though you’ll still want to bring the right documents the first time, rather than risk being sent away to gather something you forgot.

Getting this right the first time matters more for the in-person route, where a missing document means a second trip to the same counter rather than just re-uploading a file.
